Outdoor Knit-Along

Phizzfest Stitchers and The Knitting Room invite you to bring along your current knitting or crochet project and join us for an outdoor ‘craft in the community’ event. Stitchers of all levels welcome.

Duck Race

Prizes galore in this festival favourite! Keep an eye out for our yellow barrow selling ducks at pop-up locations in Phibsboro in the week before and on the canal during the festival. The race itself will take place east or west of the 6th lock.

Canal-side Family Events

Boat trips, paddling, music and stage acts, the infamous duck race and lots of other activities!

Join us for a fun-filled afternoon of family activities including the amazing Pure Magic Watersports for demonstrations and lessons in stand-up paddleboarding.

Our canal-side stage will host a range of performance acts including the Walkaleles Ukulele Band – back by popular demand, the Finglas Concert Band – bringing the fun and panache of a concert band, Comhaltas Ceolteori Eireann’s Sean Tracy branch – bringing their award winning show featuring song, dance and music connected to the Royal Canal and the CSharps Babershop Group – a highly popular group that is guaranteed to get the audience going.

Keep an eye out for Magician Quentin Reynolds, a Member of the Inner Magic Circle, who’ll be roving about choosing groups of people to wow with his spellbinding show.

There’s biodiversity and canal history walks, children’s games and –  it goes without saying – the must have Annual Duck Race. An afternoon not to be missed!

Casa Mexico Food Workshop

12pm Workshop: learn how to prepare authentic chile de arbol sauce and avocado green sauce.

1pm Mexican food tasting: an opportunity to try Tamales, Tacos, beans and sauces, as well as tasting typical Mexican drinks.

Art Workshop 

Fun and Wellbeing Workshop with artist Paula Garcia Ibánez. This is not an art painting workshop or art-therapy. The goal is to discover the therapeutic or beneficial effects of creativity while having fun. The workshop has several phases and will last between two to three hours.

Festival of Football History – Mark Rutherford’s Introduction to the League of Ireland

This talk will discuss Rutherford’s introduction to the League of Ireland in October 1991, when the Birmingham winger arrived for a month’s trial at Shelbourne. It will also set the scene for a discussion about Rutherford’s overall League of Ireland career and why the winger has deservedly been inducted into the FAI Hall of Fame.Dr James Curry, is a historian and founder of the ‘Stories of Dublin’ YouTube channel.

Phizzfest Family Fun Cycle

This is your invitation to a fun cycle through and around the Phibsborough area in the safety of a large group. You are encouraged to dress up or decorate your bike to stand out! Gathering at 1pm at Dalymount Park, and rolling shortly after that, you will set off as a single group and the emphasis will be on ‘leisurely’. This is an all-weather event and includes music bikes to entertain you and a free raffle draw.

Meeting point is Dalymount Park, entrance at St. Peters Road / opposite Norfork Road junction.
