Visit to the Fire Station for children aged 5+. Must be accompanied by an adult. Booking essential via Phizzfest Pop-Up Booking Office in Phibsborough Library, Saturday 27 April between 10.30-12.30.

Duck Race

Prizes galore in this festival favourite! Keep an eye out for our yellow barrow selling ducks at pop-up locations in Phibsboro in the week before and on the canal during the festival. The race itself will take place east or west of the 6th lock.

Canal-side Family Events

Boat trips, paddling, music and stage acts, the infamous duck race and lots of other activities!

Join us for a fun-filled afternoon of family activities including the amazing Pure Magic Watersports for demonstrations and lessons in stand-up paddleboarding.

Our canal-side stage will host a range of performance acts including the Walkaleles Ukulele Band – back by popular demand, the Finglas Concert Band – bringing the fun and panache of a concert band, Comhaltas Ceolteori Eireann’s Sean Tracy branch – bringing their award winning show featuring song, dance and music connected to the Royal Canal and the CSharps Babershop Group – a highly popular group that is guaranteed to get the audience going.

Keep an eye out for Magician Quentin Reynolds, a Member of the Inner Magic Circle, who’ll be roving about choosing groups of people to wow with his spellbinding show.

There’s biodiversity and canal history walks, children’s games and –  it goes without saying – the must have Annual Duck Race. An afternoon not to be missed!

Hidden in Plain Sight Treasure Hunt

Meet at the Soldier Statue – (Opp Library) for registration and collection of clues. Spend an entertaining afternoon deciphering cryptic clues on this leisurely two-hour hunt through Phibsborough’s past and present. Concluding with après hunt at the Bernard Shaw for refreshments, chats and prizes. Adults and teenagers (Unsuitable for little ones).

Classic Cars Parade

For all motor enthusiasts, an ensemble of classic cars will gather at the Kings Inns at 12 noon and parade along Phibsborough Road to Cross Guns Bridge.

Join best-selling author and illustrator Peter Donnelly (The President’s series) for an exciting reading and draw-a-long from his latest book, Little WolfCome meet the Little Wolf puppet in a fun interactive event for 5-8 year olds. This event is kindly sponsored by Dublin City Libraries.

SOLD OUT! Teddy Bears’ Picnic

Musician and teacher Shane McGrath will take us on a wonderful musical journey with our Teddy Bears. There will be singing along, percussive instruments and interactive storytelling. Expect a Teddy Bear Counting Song, A Bear Hunt and a dramatisation of Michael Rosen’s classic children’s book. Don’t forget to bring your favourite teddy and nibbles for this fun family event! Post-music picnic from 12.45-13.30.
