Núria Graham and Aoife Nessa Frances, two accomplished songwriters and multi-instrumentalists, have long admired each other’s work. Their paths crossed at various festivals, sparking a creative kinship that has culminated in a collaborative endeavor. Hailing from diverse backgrounds, Núria, with her heritage blending her Irish and Catalan roots, was raised in Vic, Catalunya, while Aoife, a native of Dublin, now resides in West of Ireland with her own familial ties to Catalunya.

Beyond their geographical and cultural connections, Núria and Aoife share a tapestry of serendipitous occurrences, including sharing the same birthday and a harmonious resonance in their musicality and songwriting sensibilities. It’s almost as if fate itself has orchestrated their union, with Núria embodying Irish heritage and Aoife’s family extending into Catalan lineage through her sister.

United by their passion for music, the duo has embarked on an enthralling journey, intertwining their unique styles to craft captivating compositions. Collaborating on new material while seamlessly blending their individual works into performances, Núria and Aoife will perform live at Phizzfest 2024.

Film: 5 Broken Cameras (Palestine)

Oscar-nominated documentary film 5 Broken Cameras tells the story of a Palestinian farmer Emad Burnat who chronicles his non-violent resistance to the Israeli armed forces in the West Bank. In his village, a separation barrier is being built and the villagers start to resist this decision. Over five years, Emad films the struggle, alongside filming his young son Gibreel as he grows. The screening will include Palestinian food, with speakers and an information stall from the IPSC.

Battle of Zen – Produced by Jessie Thompson

Battle of Zen is a Dance Platform and Battle Event founded in 2021 to bring together the Irish Street Dance and Hip-Hop Community to celebrate dance, music and unity. This edition will have 3 battle categories: 3v3 All Styles and U18 All styles and Hip-Hop. Dancers from many different styles will team up and compete to win cash prizes.

Leading author Mike McCormack, whose book Solar Bones won the prestigious IMPAC award in 2018, in conversation with friend and author Claire Kilroy, who’s 2023 novel Soldier Sailor was named Times Novel of the Year . The pair will discuss their recent work, the influence of parenthood in a writer’s life and more. Moderated by book publisher Ciara Considine.
