A firm family favourite when the residents of Phibsborough are invited to enjoy the wonderful amenity that the Royal Canal offers our neighbourhood. There’s Canoe Polo, boat rides and the annual duck race. We’ll have a children’s play area with play equipment and bouncy castle, canalside stalls featuring chess, book crossing and a host of other activities. Visit Artists Ceara and Roisin on the canal barge and learn about the hidden bio-diversity of the canal. And forget Monte Carlo - we’ve got the Mount Bernard Go-Kart Derby! Remember to bring a picnic and join in our waterside picnic.

Charleville Tennis Club Open DayWhether you’ve played before or you’ve always thought you’d like to, now’s your chance to experience Tennis at the Charleville Open Day on SUNDAY 4TH MAY as part of Phizzfest 2014. Just wear a tracksuit or shorts, t-shirt and runners and come on down!

Showcasing their craftsmanship from the Go-Kart workshops in April, contestants will take part in a time trial race event in their homemade go-karts with a competition for the fastest, cheapest and best design. Teams must comprise of one adult (18+) and up to three children (8-12). Adults must attend with children at all times. |

Celebrating Charles B. Franklin - Founding Father of the Modern Motorcycle
Come along to a very special motorcycling event in The Brian Boru on Bank Holiday Sunday May 4th at 2pm and afterwards to the unveiling of a plaque at the birthplace of Charles B. Franklin at 18 Whitworth Road at 4pm. Historian Harry Havelin will present a talk on C.B.F., Ireland's first International motorcycle racing star who went on to become chief engineer at Indian Motorcycles in Springfield Mass, designing, among others, the iconic Indian Scout and Indian Chief motorcycles. Enjoy a display of motorcycles from the era. Enthusiasts are invited to bring their own vintage or classic motorcycle to the event. Event will have secure area for machines. Come and make some noise. |

An opportunity for those with and without drawing experience to meet and participate in a group drawing session facilitated by artist Dorothy Smith. The focus will be on drawing the overlooked and the everyday using the Phizzfest Community Day as a focus.
All equipment will be provided (camp stools, sketch books, pencils, charcoal and markers) but participants are welcome to bring their own. The session will last approx 1.5 hours |

phizzfest traditional music dayPhizzfest are proud to present an afternoon and evening of traditional Irish music and song, brought to you by stalwarts of the local traditional music and singing scene.
@2.00 pm - 4.00 pm The Bodhrán Buzz @ Phizz Robbie Walsh, All Ireland Bodhrán Champion, will host a bodhrán workshop where festival goers can come and learn the basics of playing this excellent instrument, and more experienced players can come and share tips and tricks with a highly accomplished and respected bodhrán player.Bodhrán’s supplied for those who do not have their own. There is a small fee for participation in this workshop. @5.00 pm Come All You Tender Christians:Ballads in, upon or against Dublin A journey in song with Jerry O’Reilly, both humorous and serious through this most amazing and historic city in which we are so lucky to live. Jerry is a traditional singer and host of An Góilín, Dublin’s foremost traditional singing club and will be joined by many local traditional singers for this intriguing musical journey. @9.00 pm Traditional Music Session Local Phibsborans and established traditional musicians Aoife Dermody, Christian Brady and friends will host an open traditional music session downstairs in the Hut. Musicians and singers welcome. |
