PHIZZFEST POP-UP POETRY & CAFÉ

Poetry composed, interpreted, illustrated and even performed by children from  two local national schools, St Peter's and Dublin 7 Educate Together.  During both days there will be story telling through verse, poetry out loud and even a second-hand book stall as well as the popular Phizzfest Pop-up Café.

CHILDREN’S IYOGA CIRCUS PARADE 

Children enjoy practising yoga and learning the stories behind the postures. iYoga proposes an outdoor yoga circus workshop for children  ages 3- 10 where we will teach a sequence of  postures, let the children choose their favourites, and create a circus performance. We will start the circus with a parade. We will have face painters available for the children and will request that those attending come in plain colourful t-shirts or costumes to enhance their performance in the iYoga Circus.

All children must be accompanied by parent/guardian.

FIFTH LOCK CUP – CANOE POLO

This will be the fourth year of the Fifth Lock Cup. This competition has now become a regular feature on the Canoe Polo Ireland calendar. Last year the Wild Water Kayak Club from the Strawberry Beds in Dublin took home the winners cups for both the senior and junior grades.

The competition will run Saturday May 3rd (10am -5pm) and Sunday May 4th (10am-3pm).

CHAIR YOGA SESSIONS : GET FIT WHILE YOU SIT

“Yoga  is for all. Nobody should be denied the opportunity to experience its benevolence. It is this thought that impelled me to think of all these props” B.K.S Iyengar.

iYoga proposes  “Chair for Yoga” a short yoga sequence on chairs is suitable for all, which  can be practised anywhere and is particularly helpful for elderly people and those suffering from movement limitations.  iYoga can supply the special yoga chairs we use in practice. The sessions will show how these simple yoga postures on a chair can be done safely at home or in the office.

Peter Clarke author of The Royal Canal - The Complete Story will lead an interesting and illuminating walk from Ashtown to Cross Gunns Bridge.   The walk will take approx 2 hours.

COMMUNITY FUN DAY

A  firm family favourite when the residents of Phibsborough are invited to enjoy the wonderful amenity that the Royal Canal offers our neighbourhood.   There’s Canoe Polo, boat rides and the annual duck race.   We’ll have a children’s play area with play equipment and bouncy castle, canalside stalls featuring chess, book crossing and a host of other activities. Visit Artists Ceara and Roisin on the canal barge and learn about the hidden bio-diversity of the canal. And forget Monte Carlo - we’ve got the Mount Bernard Go-Kart Derby!   Remember to bring a picnic and join in our waterside picnic.

Charleville Lawn Tennis Club will also host their Tennis Club Open Day today.  
All welcome. An opportunity for children to try out tennis with junior coaching and games players

GO-KART TIME TRIALS

Jalopies V Jaguars

Showcasing their craftsmanship from the Go-Kart workshops in April, contestants will take part in a time trial race event in their homemade go-karts with a competition for the fastest, cheapest and best design. Teams must comprise of one adult (18+) and up to three children (8-12).  Adults must attend with children at all times.
